Stolen Ifor Williams Horse Trailer with post code drilled through front panel – very distinctive. Ifor Williams 4 wheel double horse trailer stolen from field at 9.30pm Thursday 19th March 2009 . It is about 20 years old and worth about £1000. It is maroon and in reasonable condition for it’s age. Owner did not record the chassis number, but it was originally supplied by Barnwell. Outline of postcode CM4 0JX drilled through the flat aluminium panel facing forward above the towbar. Very  visible Reward of £200 offered for it’s return and a further £300 if the thieves are caught and convicted.
In February 2009 a number of items were stolen from Rettendon, Essex  including a black prestige optimax 17 inch dressage saddle. Unfortunately there are no unique identifying features on the saddle but if this saddle and/or any other items have been offered to you for sale,   please let us know the details as soon as possible,  or contact  Ewan.Smith@essex.pnn.police.uk
Stolen 02/03.0309 from Gleadless, Sheffield: Bridles x 2; Head collars x 6 Gained entry into field by moving/climbing over fence. The gate has been moved so it was off its' hinges. Entry gained to the tack room - not locked, bolted. Crime ref. K/23602/09

White dressage pad, humane black girth • Cob size brown leather harness. Has red plastic fancy bits on blinkers and brown band. Leather reins • Small webbing harness for Shetland, with blinkers. Webbing reins • Sabre black 17", medium fit GP saddle with stirrup leathers & irons. Cottage Craft type black girth and white dressage pad • Lovett & Rickett saddle, 17" medium GP • Triumph GP 16" medium fit saddle, brown with lighter brown suede knee rolls. Brown Cottage Craft type girth, brown numnah with black binding. • Pony trap in black suitable for Shetland. Lock and handle smashed off garage up and over door. Window smashed on the side, so offender(s) could have a look inside first. The shed also entered and items stolen - lock cut off the gain entry via front door. Crime ref. A/21138/09

Stolen  from Dihewyd, near Lampeter, West Wales, SA48 7PL on Tuesday, 10th March 2009 1. Tan coloured side saddle, comprising new leather, pale grey suede seat and under pommels, linen lined.  Missing stirrup and balance strap. Royal blue cover edged in new leather (hand stitched) (see photograph ).   2. Two Kent Leather general purpose saddles, one has fake leathers rubbing. Leather and irons attached.   3. Two Kent Leather general purpose saddles, one has fake sheepskin seat saver. Brown, 16 ? - 17". One has thigh roll cut off leaving a patch on either side of underneath flap showing stitch holes. Leathers and irons attached to both, one set of leathers being rawhide (reddish in colour). One saddle has not been used much so leather is stiff.   4. County Competitor dressage saddle, 16 ?", black, 3 long straps for girth which hang below saddle. One strap has been chewed at end.   (All saddles wide fitting.) Saddles & Bridles Stolen 03/03/09 Overnight fence cut at rear of property to allow access for vehicle. Tack room broken into, lockers forced open and leather tack taken, synthetic was left behind. Stolen on 15.1.09 from Ash, Kent 15W GFS Havanna GP pony saddle and matching snaffle cavesson bridle with rubber reins, A 141/2M Ideal Working hunter saddle in Havanna, A brand new Thorowgood 15W pony club saddle in brown. All had girths, stirrups, leathers and saddle covers, A Jefferies in-hand bridle. A body protector childs Medium, which was in a carry case with tags still attached although the protector done its job and is muddy. Leather pony brushing boots, 2 lunge lines black padded, 2 short whips Childs riding boots long leather size 13 A hat although not sure of size but it was a crash hat with a black velvet cover. BUYING OR SELLING TACK ON EBAY? It is known that stolen tack is sold through Ebay, also that there are some sellers who insist on a cash/money order transaction. Both these issues are a concern. To avoid being caught-out by rogue sellers, please follow our advice: BUYING 1) Never buy equestrian goods from people who don't use Paypal. If you pay by Paypal and the goods fail to arrive, Paypal will investigate and can    refund the money to you from the seller account. Of course this doesn't stop rogue sellers from using Paypal and withdrawing the money quickly so that there is nothing to refund, however, Paypal will still investigate and can cancel the user's account.  The lack of a Paypal payment option is a clear warning signal to stay clear of the seller. 2) Never use wire transfer services to pay for goods. Many scammers will use Western Union or similar companies for payments. Avoid at all costs! Save a copy of the Ebay entry to your hard drive for future reference and ensure that you have a note of the item reference number. 3)  Ask the seller a question about the item. (It doesn't matter what, you're only doing it to get hold of their Email address). When they respond, keep their Email address safe for future reference. 4) Once you receive the goods, check them over for security marks, postcodes, serial numbers etc. If you have any concerns that you might have purchased stolen property, contact us and we will investigate further for you. SELLING 1) Insist on a Paypal transaction or cash on collection. Never accept payments by cheque or money order. 2) If payment is cash on collection, buy a counterfeit money detector pen and check all the notes before the buyer leaves with the goods. (You can get a pen for just £1.95 (Sept 08) from Crime Prevention Products, HERE). 3) If you are selling security marked tack - Say so in your item description. If the mark is your postcode, give the first part of it so that buyers can see that it ties in with your seller's location. - Do not obliterate the security marking. It will provide an audit-trail of owners should it ever be stolen and recovered.

Stolen from a farm at Bentley Road, Bromley, Manningtree, Dec 2008 Secure container broken into, chain cut. Saddle  girth and bridle stolen. Approx value £2000.00. The saddle is an Albion SLK Altama  Black Dressage Saddle. One side of the saddle flap is turned up on one side where there has been wear.
Tack Theft - Cinderford, Gloucestershire Between 0900hrs on Friday 14th and 0900hrs on Saturday 15th November offenders have forced open a padlocked stable door and pulled tin sheets aware to gain entry to a building in Cinderford. On entering the building the offenders have stolen: ·         A strimmer ·         2 bridles ·         2 breastplates ·         4 bits ·         2 leather headcollars.  The area is very dark and not overlooked by any other premises and this property is not viewable from the road. Tack (£2,300) Theft, Wragby Niche 13080488575 refers to theft of horse tack - saddles, bridles etc - to the value of £2100. Incident occurred 21/11/08 12:50 hrs at  WENT LANE, WRAGBY.   Complainant returned home and disturbed suspects taking property which had been placed in the boot of a BLACK 4 DOOR SALOON. Complainant confronts suspects who then make off with complainant's own vehicle - Ford Transit - which has since been recovered in NOTTON, WAKEFIELD Suspect descriptions: Suspect one: white male; 20-30 years; 5ft 10ins tall; medium build; fair complexion; wearing dark clothing and hooded top; spoke in a rough Irish accent.   Suspect two: white male; 5ft 10ins tall; stocky build; with a square wide face; 30 years; short dark wavy hair; wearing a black and white hooped knitted top; spoke in a rough Irish accent.| Later the same day, there were 2 similar offences at UPPER MIDGLEY FARM,  BAR LANE, MIDGLEY

Tack (£3,000) Stolen On the 22nd November 2008 at around 15:30 hours a burglary other took place at a farm at Crawshaw Lane, Flockton. The suspects, both white males approached a transport container within the farm yard and using a Sthil Saw cut open the locks which were secured with a substantial padlock and stole horse tack to the value of £3000. This is the 3rd time this farm has been subject to criminal activity within the last 12 months, and this is one of a number of thefts of horse equipment which are taking place in the Kirklees area at the moment. CCTV is installed at the farm and shows the suspects are using a Black new shape BMW 5 Series, which has substantial damage to the driver’s door, Observations be this car please, particularly in more rural areas

Thorowgood girth. ·         Wintec 2000 GP black synthetic medium fit saddle Saddles were left unattended in stable block whilst complainant was feeding her horse. Unknown persons entered via front door and taken the saddles. A witness saw a blue transit van coming off the farm track around the time of the offence. No VRM or description available.

Thieves steal £20,000 of show tack from Jo Bates' yard Tack thieves struck in Oxfordshire this week, stealing around £20,000-worth of tack from a yard shared by showing rider Jo Bates and event rider Pip Taylor. The break-in happened overnight near Banbury on Tuesday (11 November). Among the haul were two black Albion dressage saddles, a Jaguar gold buffalo leather jumping saddle, a Sattlerei straight cut saddle and a Berney Dublin show jumper saddle. Many other items, including show and double bridles and a number of reins and girths were stolen, too. "They forced the lock on the tack room which is in an internal barn," Jo told H&H. "We have security lights, but they must have been watching the place because they parked in an area which isn't covered by lights." The break-in was discovered at 6.10am by yard staff on Wednesday morning (12 November). Although none of the tack is postcoded, Jo told H&H most of it is highly distinguishable. The thieves then hitched up a flat blue trailer from the field and drove a red quad onto it which was stored in a field shelter temporarily. They then entered the tack room and stole everything in the list above. The horses were in the field at the time and suspects left all the gates open allowing the horses access to the road. Stolen from a stable yard in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshitre, on Thursday the 2nd of October, between 1:30, and 9:30 in the morning. 2 pony saddles, a bridle, and 2 saddle cloths. The offender has gained access to the land, via a green lane that runs to the rear of the location. The offender climbed over a 4 foot electric fence, and entered an insecure barn. Stolen between 0100 and 0800 on Wednesday 8/10/2008 from Collingham, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Approximately £100,000 worth of Shultz Western horse riding tack and associated equipment stolen. The haul included an Ifor Williams 505 two horse trailer, Equitrek two horse trailer with living accommodation, Claydon horse solarium and a Yamaha Big Bear Quad bike along with numerous other pieces of equipment.   The victim is believed to be the only supplier and Schulz Western tack in the country. Below is representative example of the pieces stolen. Stolen from a riding school, in Sutton, near Sandy, on Tuesday the 29th of July, at 10:20 in the morning. Brown leather Wintech saddle, with changeable gullet. Wintech changeable gullet. The offender entered the location in a White, Astra Van and was seen getting out of the vehicle and walking around the location. The tack room had been left unlocked and un attended. The offender removed over £900 worth of tack and made off in the same White Astra Van. The witness could not offer a description of the offender. This crime could have been prevented if the tack room had been locked. Bedfordshire Police ask rural businesses, and owners of livestock to be vigilant. A stable yard was broken into on Saturday 4^th Aug in Wooburn, Bucks and the following items stolen. A mini Shetland driving harness, black synthetic with leather on the pad and crupper, with a three inch snaffle bit on the bridle. Was in a chequered laundry bag. A black Wintec 17.5” wide saddle, an Aukland 16”med dark pony saddle with a crupper on the back, a black leather Full Size bridle, with white padding on brow and nose bands and a straight bar snaffle and continental reins, an English black leather pony bridle, and a mini Shetland black leather bridle, 3 “jointed snaffle bit with a brass clencher brow band. POLICE are trying to trace the owners of six horse saddles.

The saddles, which were discovered with tack in the Bidford area on July 12, are currently being stored at Alcester police station.

They are described as a black Thorowgood Walsall Griffin saddle on a Shires equestrian rug, a black leather Wintec Bates Saddlery, Australia, saddle with tag saying "Laurie May, Polly", a brown leather saddle with a pink Shires equestrian rug, a black leather saddle with no detail and a black leather saddle Ideal Handcrafted Saddle Co, Walsall, with brown Thorowgood girth.

Stolen from Stansted Abbots, Essex, over the  Easter weekend - A large quantity of tack.

This consisted of driving harness, a gig, saddles and bridles plus an Ifor Williams full size horse trailer, a flat bed trailer and a Kubota tractor.

Also the following night a yard in Epping green was attempted to be broken into but they were disturbed by the owners and made off.

Chelsham (nr Warlingham) Surrey-  Wednesday 2nd May 2007 Offenders gained access to a tack room located in stable yard along Church Lane, Chelsham around 12.30hrs  by forcing front door. Quantity of saddles removed before being disturbed by return of owner. Offenders made off across field into woodland. A vehicle was heard to drive off at high speed.

Stolen horse rugs from Marchwood, Hampshire on 7^th January 2007.  2 of the outdoor rugs have the post code SO40 4XA on them.  This was apparently done by RUG-ID so cannot be removed.

Crime 1062640163 at North Deighton Wetherby, overnight 20-21 September, offenders enter stable/outbuilding on farm premises remove bucket of horse feed, make tidy search of feed room.. Bucket found minus contents near to a field where a dutch bred horse valued at £8000 was.

Crime 1062540757 at Dunnington, York, day time 08:00 - 18:00 11th September, offender(s) have driven to rear of isolated large farm property via a side track and break through padlocks on outbuildings possibly using bolt croppers. Steal Ifor Williams DP120G trailer serial 211236, 3 leather saddles, 1 dressage leather saddle, 2 sets of pulling harnesses. 1 Hayter push lawn mower Serial 533A001001 code 533a. 1 Countax K series ride on red mower 14hp chassis possibly 140-0030207. 1 Stihl strimmer model FS55. 1 Suzuki LT quad 50cc childs off road.  A black pickup was seen in the vicinity.

This saddle is quite unusual as Cottage Craft only made them for a very short time and it is made of quality Argentinian leather.

It has seen several years of wear. As it is identifiable it was hoped that this might prove a lead in finding the general haul of tack from this incident.

A non dwelling burglary took place to a new private yard in the village of Chapmanslade near Westbury, Wiltshire. It happened sometime

overnight on Friday 18th June.

The items that were stolen include approx 40 - 50 made to measure stable and turnout rugs. The rugs are all very distinctive as they are all

colour co-ordinated. The main colours are Purple/Silver, Lilac, Navy/Purple, Powder blue/navy and are mostly, Weatherbeta, Rambo, Masta

or Thermatex stable and turnout rugs, some with hoods. 5'9 - 6' in size.

Also included were 2 Snuggy hood's which are Lilac with pink silk lining, they are 2 of only 4 ever made in the UK. Other items include

Weatherbeta travel boots in various colours and head collars and lead ropes to match the rugs.

This is all private stock which the owner has saved up and bought over the past few years, she is devastated that this has happened to her and

her horses. A lot of this stock are one off's when it comes to the schemes.

Theft of Forty Saddles from Rogate, Sussex, overnight Wed. 25th February 2004.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a theft of some 40 saddles worth about £28,000 from a farm in Rogate in the early hours of Wednesday 25th Feb. A silver 4x4 was seen to leave the premises about 2am and is believed to be connected.

Hawke Event GP saddle. Brown leather. 17" wide fitting with "W" on stirrup bar. Loosely attached buckle guards, new brown leather stirrup leathers. 43/4" stirrup irons with black rubber treads. Brown leather Atherstone girth and brown cotten numnah. Was covered with a light green hand towel.

Stubben GP saddle. All suede seat and flaps. Lt sandy colour underneath with darker leather on flaps. Blue Stubben stud on front /left of saddle. 4621 stamped on stitched girth guards. Suede knee rolls underneath flap. Brown stirrup leathers and stainless steel irons with black treads.
